Trump says North Korea鈥檚 Kim insulted him by calling him 鈥榦ld鈥�

HANOI, Vietnam: US President Donald Trump said in a tweet that North Korea鈥檚 leader Kim Jong Un had insulted him by calling him 鈥渙ld鈥� and said he would never call Kim 鈥渟hort and fat.鈥�
Trump made the comment Sunday morning after attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Vietnam.
In a series of tweets he also said Chinese President Xi Jinping was 鈥渦pping sanctions鈥� on North Korea in response to its nuclear and missile programs and that Xi wants Pyongyang to 鈥渄enuclearize.鈥�
Trump tweeted: 鈥淲hy would Kim Jong-un insult me by calling me 鈥榦ld,鈥� when I would NEVER call him 鈥榮hort and fat?鈥� Oh well, I try so hard to be his friend 鈥� and maybe someday that will happen!鈥�
Trump has traded insults and threats with Kim in the past amid escalating tensions over Pyongyang鈥檚 nuclear and missile programs.
