JEDDAH: Ziad bin Mohammed Al-Shiha, CEO of the Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC), inspected new electricity projects in Makkah and Madinah on Wednesday.
The projects include 13 transmission as well as various distribution projects aimed at meeting pilgrims鈥 electricity needs during the Hajj season.
While inspecting the company鈥檚 preparations and its plans to face the expected surges in demand, Al-Shiha said that projects were completed in accordance with the directives of King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Minister of Interior Prince Abdul Aziz bin Saud bin Naif.
鈥淰arious electrical projects were planned by the end of last year鈥檚 Hajj season and were established over the past months through Saudi competence and expertise and the company鈥檚 distinguished personnel. They are a part of the company鈥檚 strategy to check the reliability of the electrical services in all the sites,鈥 he added.
Al-Shiha also visited the SEC鈥檚 offices in Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah, and discussed details of plans for this year鈥檚 Hajj season with the company鈥檚 officials.
SEC engineers and technicians have carried out the maintenance and safety program for the generation of plants in preparation for the Hajj season. They provided a sufficient number of units to cover the expected maximum loads.
The company鈥檚 teams also reviewed all technical standards and plans so it would be possible to export more electricity from the central and southern regions to backup the western region鈥檚 electrical system, if necessary.
