Bahrain and Israel foreign ministers hold phone call

LONDON: The foreign ministers of Bahrain and Israel held a phone call on Saturday, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani and Gabi Ashkenazi鈥檚 phone call came a day after their countries agreed to normalize relations.

The foreign ministers congratulated each other on the historic agreement and stressed the need to move relations forward in a way that promotes peace and stability in the region.

Yesterday鈥檚 announcement makes Bahrain the fourth Arab country to make peace with Israel.

In an interview with Al Arabiya, Al Zayani said that 鈥淭he agreement with Israel is a historic and courageous decision鈥� and that the peace agreement with Israel 鈥渇ocussed on peaceful coexistence.鈥�

He added that Manama鈥檚 stand regarding a two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict remains the same.
