  • Regulations to protect biodiversity, preserve ecological balance
  • Hunters must only use approved methods, stay in specific areas

RIYADH: 萝莉视频鈥檚 National Center for Wildlife has emphasized that violators of the new environment protection rules for this year鈥檚 hunting season, from Sept. 1 to Jan. 31, 2026, will be prosecuted.

There are updated regulations to protect biodiversity, preserve ecological balance, and ensure sustainable use of natural resources in line with the nation鈥檚 Environment Law, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The rules are based on new research, international best practices, lessons from previous seasons, and reflect the Kingdom鈥檚 international commitments.

Only species listed on the center鈥檚 official website and the Fitri platform may be hunted. Endangered species remain permanently off limits, the SPA reported.

Licensed firearm hunters and falconers registered with the Saudi Falcons Club must obtain permits through the Fitri platform.

Hunting is also banned in restricted areas, including cities, villages, farms, rest houses, residential areas, near military or industrial facilities, within protected zones, and across mega projects such as Neom, Qiddiya, and The Red Sea Project.

It is further prohibited along the Kingdom鈥檚 coasts up to 20 km inland, the SPA added.

Hunting is restricted to approved methods. The use of shotguns, nets, electronic lures, or other techniques that capture multiple birds at once are prohibited.

Violators face legal penalties enforced by the Ministry of Interior鈥檚 Special Forces for Environmental Security in coordination with the center.

Mohammed Qurban, CEO of the center, said: 鈥淭he Kingdom has now entered its fifth regulated hunting season since the system was introduced in 2021. Over these years, the center has continued to refine the process using lessons learned from past seasons.鈥

He noted that the initiative has promoted sustainable hunting, and they have seen growing awareness among hunters, reflecting their national commitment to protecting natural resources and supporting ecological balance.

鈥溌芾蚴悠碘檚 efforts in regulating hunting have received broad international recognition, as reflected in the Kingdom, through the center, being awarded the Migratory Species Champion award,鈥 he added.

鈥淭his honor highlights the Kingdom鈥檚 leadership in addressing unsustainable hunting and illegal trade in migratory species, as well as its pivotal role in combating illegal bird hunting across Southwest Asia.鈥

These efforts are a part of the Kingdom鈥檚 broader commitment to sustainable environmental management under Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative, the SPA reported.

  • Netzero works with communities to connect afforestation projects with businesses that want to offset carbon emissions, meet sustainability goals and help restore ecosystems

RIYADH: 萝莉视频鈥檚 Netzero platform has formed a strategic partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature to help advance the Kingdom鈥檚 2060 net-zero targets, and accelerate nature-based climate solutions throughout the Middle East, North Africa and Asia.

The agreement seeks to position 萝莉视频 at the forefront of climate innovation and sustainable economic transformation, and reinforce its expanding role in nurturing the development of entrepreneurs who can create sophisticated environmental technologies on Saudi soil, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The goal is to showcase a distinctly Saudi approach that effectively connects breakthrough innovations with on-the-ground environmental protection and climate responses.

HIGHLIGHTS

鈥 Agreement seeks to place Kingdom at forefront of sustainable economic transformation, and the nurturing of entrepreneurs in environmental technologies.

鈥 Netzero works with communities to connect afforestation projects with businesses that want to offset carbon emissions, meet sustainability goals and help restore ecosystems.

Netzero works with communities to connect afforestation projects with businesses that want to offset their carbon emissions, meet sustainability goals, help restore ecosystems and make a difference for future generations. IUCN is a global environmental network that unites governments, civil society and scientific experts in efforts to conserve nature and promote sustainable development.

Netzero鈥檚 founder and CEO, Mohammed Al-Khalid, described the agreement as a watershed moment for the application of Saudi-developed technologies in conservation work. His organization has built cutting-edge digital infrastructure to track environmental impacts, monitor recovery of vegetation, and optimize tree-planting campaigns, he said, resulting in unprecedented transparency in the measurement of outcomes, and improved climate gains.

The partnership will pursue several strategic goals, he added, including the restoration of ecosystems at scale through pioneering nature-based approaches that address climate disruption and rejuvenate native biodiversity; the safeguarding of wildlife and natural habitats by merging intelligent technologies with IUCN鈥檚 deep conservation expertise; and the strengthening of local communities through knowledge-sharing initiatives and the development of environmental skills that can promote sustainable livelihoods.

Al-Khalid stressed that the combination of Saudi-engineered environmental technologies with field conservation demonstrates the readiness of the Kingdom to share its technical solutions with the world. Netzero鈥檚 digital platforms rank among the region鈥檚 pioneering systems in their ability to accurately quantify the effects of carbon, and monitor reforestation efforts through the use of artificial intelligence and geographic data analysis, he added.

Hani El-Shaer, the regional director of IUCN鈥檚 Regional Office for West Asia, said the agreement reflects a mutual dedication to the deployment of workable, nature-based solutions that build climate resilience. He added that the pairing of Saudi innovation with global conservation knowledge would produce measurable results in ecosystem recovery, while advancing national and regional environmental agendas.

The Netzero platform was launched through 萝莉视频鈥檚 national Sidra program under the auspices of Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture.
